The Réseau express métropolitain (REM) will close from July 5 to August 17, 2025, to test the network's new branches. Well aware of the problems this closure will cause, CDPQ Infra emphasizes that users will soon benefit from dozens of additional kilometers of network. Starting in October, the commissioning of the new segments will add 18 stations to the network, which will now connect the South Shore, the heart of Montreal, Deux-Montagnes, and the West Island as far as Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue. According to Francis Labbé, Assistant Director of Media Relations at CDPQ Infra, the REM, which is only two years old, has not yet demonstrated its full potential, and these six weeks of testing will be a decisive step towards a new way of getting around the metropolitan area.
