First Look! Amtrak F40PHR 231 Returns to the Rails

Presented in 4K - After more than 22 years since running on the main line, Amtrak EMD F40PH 231 returns to the rails, restored in the "Operation Lifesaver" Phase III livery. Owned and restored by Dynamic Rail Preservation, or DynaRail, the 231 has been undergoing restoration for the past several years, and was just recently repainted in this vintage paint scheme. Repairs are still ongoing, as it is still without traction motors due to past vandalism. On Saturday September 28th, the 231 was exhibited at the Nevada State Railroad Museum in Boulder City, in honor of Operation Lifesaver weekend. With traction power by UP EMD GP30 844, the unit was MU'd for public excursions. I saw the 231 on two of the three runs, and got the opportunity to ride in the cab for the afternoon run.
