One most popular is the Wedding or Vivaah Sanskar. The Bhojpuri cognate of 'Vivaah' is Biyaah and the songs sung at this sanskar are called 'Biyaah Geet' (Wedding songs). Like all these songs they bear references to the Hindu Itihaasas e.g. the Mahabharat and Ramayan. This particular Biyaah Geet describes the wedding procession of Lord Ram arriving and all the various rituals to welcome the bridegroom before he enters the wedding canopy to officially be married. Here is the Davanagari script of the original lyrics, Roman transliteration and English translation of this song: दसरथ जी अइले बियाहन जनक राजा मिलना तू करले हो Dasarath jī aile biyāhan Janak rājā milnā tū karle ho (King Dashrath came with the procession to meet King Janak for the marriage) दो समधी देखो मिलते परठ पर Do samdhī dekho milte parath par (Look how the two proud fathers meet bearing gifts) गले गए है लिपटाइ जनक राजा मिलना तू करले हो Gale gae hai lipațāī Janak rājā milnā tū karle ho (They greet each other with a warm embrace) जब रे बरतिया दुवरिया पर उतरे Jab re baratiyā duwariyā par utare (When the wedding procession came up to the threshold) होई लागे द्वारे के चारे जनक राजा मिलना तू करले हो Hoī lāge dwāre ke chāre Janak rājā milnā tū karle ho (The bridegroom was greeted with praises of honor) जब रे बरतियाया मरौवा में उतरे Jab re baratiyā marauwā mein utare (When the marriage procession reached the wedding canopy) सखी परिछन लागी जनक राजा मिलना तू करले हो Sakhī sab parichan lāgī Janak rājā milnā tū karle ho (All the bride's confidantes welcomed the bridegroom) तीनों लोक में ये छनवा नाहीं Tīnon lok meim ye chhanwā nāhin (In all of the universe never a moment like this have been seen before) राम सवार सीता गोरी जनक राजा मिलना तू करले हो Rām sawār Sītā gorī Janak rājā milnā tū karle ho (The beautiful union of Sita with Ram)
