1478: Queen Isabella gives birth to prince John, who takes princess Isabella's place as heir. Now aged 8, princess Isabella witnesses her mother's labour and her overprotectiveness of the new heir. Isabella and Ferdinand's marriage goes through some difficulties but they maneuver politically to implant the Inquisition in Castile and appeal for the Pope to annul the marriage between king Alfonso V of Portugal and Joanna of Castile 'La Beltraneja', Isabella's rival for the throne.
