Jaworzno mało znane - Szczakowa - narodziny miasta

Szczakowa, today a district of Jaworzno, began its life as a village. Dating back to the Middle Ages, it for a long time had the form of a linear village stretching along what is now Batorego Street. However, the construction of a railway line in this area determined the construction of a station, railway infrastructure, and the birth of a town, slightly further away from Szczakowa-village, in the area of today's Jagiellońska Street. Thus, a new settlement unit was born – Szczakowa-town, which received city rights in early 1897 and became a thriving urban and industrial center. In today's episode, historian Jarosław Sawiak discusses the birth of Szczakowa as a town, its genesis, history, and subsequent fate. This material comes from https://www.jaw.pl #jaworzno #jawpl
