Race Spotlight: Tunnel Hill 100

Our mission is to help you take your next step on your ultra running journey. And, sometimes, if you are like us, you may not know what that next step may look like. This week we are taking a look at the Tunnel Hill 100, which is a 100 mile run located in Southern Illinois. And, the claim to fame for Tunnel Hill is that it is a fast 100 with only 600 feet of elevation over the 100 miles. And, when I say fast, I mean fast. Over the past few years 100 mile records on an unpaved trail for both men and women have been run at the Tunnel Hill 100. Camille ran Tunnel Hill in 2017 in 12 hours 42 minutes and 40 seconds and that record still stands today. In 2018, Zach Bitter set the men's record at the time in 12 hours, 8 minutes and 36 seconds. In 2021, there were 3 runners that went under 13 hours. So yeah. Fast. Join us as we sit down with Steve Durbin, Race Director for the Tunnel Hill 100.
