Isle of Wight Steam Railway - 'Three Island Engines' Gala 05/08/2018

Marking the imminent expiration of the boiler ticket on 'Terrier' Class W8 "Freshwater", the Isle of Wight Steam Railway held a one-off event to send off "Freshwater" before its overhaul. The "All Island Locos Together" event, or "Three Island Engines" gala , saw the running of all 3 Isle of Wight thoroughbred locomotives which ran across the island during their revenue earning service. As such, the event saw the unique pairing of two A1X 'Terrier' Class locos in the form of W8 "Freshwater" and W11 "Newport" (name not carried), shouldered by the sole surviving O2 Class; W24 "Calbourne". W11 spent the majority of the event working a shuttle service between Havenstreet and Wootton, while W8 and W24 worked full-line return services throughout the day, before a final return service between Havenstreet and Smallbrook Junction worked by Double-Headed 'Terriers' closed the timetable. With apologies, my Camera began to suffer in the heat, with faults to the Zoom function (either being stuck or jolted), as such a couple of shots were not of the quality I would have desired.
