MIDNIGHT MISSION: FISHERMEN SAVE 11 FROM DRIFTING LIFE RAFT

While rescue teams raced to the scene of the MV Barima disaster at midnight Saturday, a group of Essequibo fishermen made a life-saving decision of their own. Setting out just after midnight, they joined the search in rough seas and found a life raft carrying survivors who had spent hours adrift in the darkness. In all, they rescued 11 people. The fishermen spoke with the News Room’s Neil Marks at the Hampton Court koker before they headed out back to sea, hoping to locate the sunken vessel.
