Haïti : Thomas Lalime plaide pour la levée des restrictions constitutionnelles sur la double nat

Economist Thomas Lalime called for the lifting of constitutional restrictions related to dual citizenship, arguing that they hinder the mobilization of diaspora skills for Haiti's development. Using the national football team as an example, he emphasized that, just as the national team draws on the talents of the diaspora to strengthen its competitiveness, the country should be able to mobilize the skills of its citizens living abroad in the political, economic, and administrative spheres. According to him, the 1987 Constitution remains a major obstacle, notably by limiting access to elected office for individuals who hold or have acquired another nationality, thus restricting the participation of a significant portion of the diaspora in public life.
