HMS Indefatigable - “Sweepers, Man Your Brooms!”

When you hear 'entered service in 1944', you can be forgiven for thinking 'didn't do much'. By that point, WW2 was largely over. At least on the naval front, outside of shore bombardment or kamikazes. Yet, that isn't the case for HMS Indefatigable. Not only did this ship have an exciting career, she fought on every front aside from the Mediterranean. From bombing Tirpitz in Norway, to striking Japanese oil fields in Sumatra. Right on to sending strikes against Japan the day of the surrender. And, of course, being the first British carrier to take a kamikaze hit. Despite all of this, though, she's largely overlooked today. Overshadowed by the Illustrious sisters or Indomitable. Something not helped by how...short her Cold War service proved to be. Still, she's an interesting ship, I think.
