Andy Connors, Drumgoold, Enniscorthy - From 'Stories from The Shannon' by Michael Fortune

Andy Connors, Drumgoold, Enniscorthy, Co. Wexford As promised here is a 60 minute recording of 91 year old Andy Connors that I recorded last week. Andy is proud Wexford Traveller and has a been living in his home in Ennisocrthy for the past 40 years. I recorded this chat as part of a project which is being supported by the Community Department of Wexford County Council where I am recording the stories of people who live in the wider Shannon area of Enniscorthy. If you scroll to the end you will hear Andy sing me 3 songs too including the 1798 ballad, Ballyshannon Lane. Thanks Andy. ......................................................... I recorded this conversation on the 26th of March 2026 as part of a larger Oral History Project in the Templeshannon area of Enniscorthy. Although part of the wider town of Enniscorthy, The Shannon retains its own unique identity, accent, customs, and mannerisms. It also has a very strong community bond and deep-rooted connection to place, not found in other parts of the town. These interviews are being undertaken in a bid to celebrate these qualities and are supported by Wexford County Council through the Sláintecare Healthy Communities Programme. ..........................................................
