Rowhedge to Wivenhoe by Foot Ferry & Train

On a beautiful spring day we take the Wivenhoe Foot Ferry from Rowhedge to Wivenhoe for a walk around the town and a pint at the Black Bouy, the Greyhound and The Station. We then return home via train to Colchester main train station. Rowhedge is a former port and fishing village situated on the River Colne around 3 miles from nearby Colchester. Wivenhoe is also around 3 miles from Colchester and its history is based on fishing, ship building and smuggling. The Wivenhoe, Fingringhoe and Rowhedge Ferry runs runs most weekends from April through to the end of October, dependant on tides.
