Haltering an Alpaca Training Video

This describes a technique of haltering an alpaca using a catch rope and a clip wand. This method was taught to me by Marty McGee, author of Camelidyamics. These halters have been preadjusted such that the nose band is as far back as possible, which protects their airway from being pinched off at the tip of the nose. The tip of the nose has soft cartilage. The “industry standard” is to corner an alpaca, grab their head and jam the halter onto their head. This creates a fearful animal that will make haltering a much more challenging procedure.
