Sami ALDEEB décortique le Coran

France Culture's "Tire ta langue" program, May 17, 2015, by Antoine Perraud, interviewing Sami Aldeeb. Sami Awad Aldeeb Abu-Sahlieh is a translator and commentator of the Quran in several languages. A free spirit, born an Arab Christian, of Palestinian origin, and Swiss nationality, he holds a law degree and doctorate from the University of Fribourg, a degree in political science from the Graduate Institute of International Studies in Geneva, and has been head of Islamic and Arabic law at the Swiss Institute of Comparative Law in Lausanne since 1980. He has been a visiting professor at the Faculties of Law in Aix-en-Provence and Palermo. His French translation, published in a bilingual version by Editions de l'Aire (Vevey, Switzerland), follows the chronological order of the Quran's revelations and is intended to be as faithful as possible to the Arabic text. For the sake of clarity and pedagogy, it also indicates the most important variants of the Quran, as well as the abrogated verses and those that abrogate them.
