Why We Accept Some Truths and Reject Others

Why can two people say the exact same thing and get two completely different reactions? One person says it and people dismiss them. Another person says it and suddenly everybody is calling it wisdom. I’ve been thinking about how much we judge a message based on who said it, not whether it’s actually true. Sometimes we reject something because we don’t like the person. Sometimes we accept something because we already respect them. And if we’re honest, social media has made this even worse. A lot of people aren’t really listening anymore. They’re reacting to the face, the tone, the platform, the reputation, or whatever story they’ve already created about the person speaking. But discernment requires more than that. It asks us to pause long enough to separate the message from the messenger. Because credibility matters, yes. But truth still deserves to be examined. Have you ever noticed people accepting or rejecting the same message simply because of who delivered it?
