12 Minutes on the Baltic — Ærø to Eckernförde, No Talk, No Music, just sailing | Hatecke Hornet 32

Just the Hornet 32 running close-hauled on the Baltic, somewhere south of the island of Ærø on the way to Eckernförde. Wind steady. Boat settled. The kind of passage you don't film for the drama, because there isn't any. You film it because this is what sailing actually looks like when everything is well prepared, set and the weather is in your favor. I've been sailing this part of the Baltic for some time now. There's a particular quality to the Baltic on a good day that's hard to explain to someone who hasn't been here. But the Baltic can have a very short hard chop on a rough day which will show the quality of your hull design. This Hornet was built in 1980, as soon it finds its angle it will hold it. No narration. No music. Just the sound of the bow through water, the rigging under load, and whatever wind is running through the cockpit. If you need to be somewhere else for 12 minutes, this is a good place to be. ABOUT THE BOAT Hatecke Hornet 32 · Built 1980 · Home port: Kiel Classic offshore cruiser-racer of that time.
