Beach Wrestling: Rens vs. Yoran | GRPL

Rens and Yoran meet in Group B of DojoLink’s 8-man Beach Wrestling tournament in Breukelen, the Netherlands. Rens enters the sand circle in blue shorts with a Judo background, while Yoran steps in wearing black shorts and brings an MMA base into a matchup where throws, balance and scramble control can decide the momentum fast. This tournament brings together 8 fighters from different martial arts disciplines, split across Group A and Group B before moving into cross-finals and placement finals. Every match lasts 5 minutes. A 3-second pin scores 1 point, and the fighter with the most points after 5 minutes wins. That means every takedown has to lead into real control, because a strong entry only matters if it can be turned into a scoring pin. For this Group B clash, the style contrast makes the match especially interesting. Rens can use Judo grips, clinch pressure and throwing timing to force the action, while Yoran’s MMA background may create sharper movement, awkward angles and fast reactions in the scramble. On sand, both styles have to adapt: footwork becomes less stable, transitions become harder to predict, and every loose position can instantly shift control. Which style do you think translates better to Beach Wrestling: Judo throws and clinch control, or MMA movement and scramble ability? Let us know in the comments.
