Your Feelings Are Real, But They Are Not Who You Are
The most convincing emotion is not always the one that shouts the loudest. It is the one that knows how to use your own voice. Anger says, “This is my truth.” Fear says, “This is my nature.” Shame says, “This is what I deserve.” In this video, we reflect on a simple but difficult Buddhist truth: your emotions are real, but they are not your true self. A feeling may rise strongly. It may sound familiar. It may even feel like your deepest identity. But in the Buddha’s path, emotions are conditioned, changing, and not worthy of being clung to as “I” or “mine.” This is a personal reflection and opinion on how early Buddhist teachings can help us see emotions more clearly without suppressing them, obeying them, or turning them into a permanent name.
