The Wreck and Story of USS Preston - Falling Apart in Ironbottom
As a follow up to my previous video about USS Walke, we have the other destroyer surveyed by Nautilus. Well, the other one I haven't covered before. USS Preston. This ship is an interesting case. She was held back from combat for the vast majority of her career. She only sailed to war in late 1942, after missing Pearl Harbor and all the other major early battles. Despite, by all indications, being a fine ship and fine crew. And when she actually saw her first surface action...well. She became something of a mystery in regard to what, actually, sank the ship. With multiple arguments in different directions here. What is clear, regardless of what sent her to the bottom...Preston's wreck is in bad shape. Her bow is broken. Her stern is *gone*. And what's left is slowly but surely falling apart. (It's a shame I didn't have more material to work with, really, but technical issues are the bane of everyone.)
