2018 UJ International Festival
The 16th UJ International festival took place on 21 September during UJ cultural diversity week and has become the key cultural event at UJ. The 2018 festival marked the centenary of Nelson Mandela and the event epitomises many of the principles that Madiba stood for which were inclusion, cultural diversity, unity and celebrating life. Colourful displays of traditional dress, food, song and dance marked the festival. The 2018 festival aimed to create an awareness of the 4th Industrial Revolution which is upon us. How do we embrace the opportunities that the 4th Industrial Revolution bring and practically implement these in our everyday lives. How does the 4th Industrial Revolution help us to accelerate social cohesion, to embrace diversity and create unity across the continent. The festival aimed to foster a spirit of Ubuntu across the continent and beyond and the festival striveed to achieve this.
