Steve Kerr - 1997 NBA 3-Point Shootout (Full Performance, Champion)
February 8, 1997 - After coming up short in each of his three prior appearances, Chicago Bulls guard Steve Kerr finally staked his claim as the league's preeminent long-range shooter with a convincing victory during the 1997 NBA 3-Point Shootout held in Cleveland, Ohio. At a time when the shootout was made up of eight contestants and three rounds, Kerr squeezed into the semi-finals with just 15 first round points. He caught fire thereafter, topping all competitors with 21 in the semis and then 22 in the finals, outlasting defending champion Tim Legler. Though he would go on to play until 2003, this was the last 3-Point Shootout appearance of Kerr's career. As of 2018, his 45.4 percent career 3-point percentage is still ranked No. 1 all-time among eligible shooters.
