Ep55 Why Did Denmark Send a Hospital Ship During the Korean War? (Part 1) Following the outbreak of the Korean War, Denmark converted a cargo-passenger ship into a hospital ship to provide medical assistance. After an extensive three-month renovation, the vessel was transformed into a modern floating hospital equipped with 356 beds, four operating rooms, an X-ray facility, and a dental clinic. Its name was Jutlandia. From 1951 to 1953, Danish medical personnel aboard the Jutlandia were deployed to Korea, where they treated South Korean and United Nations forces. They also cared for Korean civilians and contributed to the rebuilding of the country's medical services.
