How to remove, fix & replace broken air vents on a VW Polo Mk5 6R

I found both my right & left side vertical air vents had collapsed (hidden behind the horizontal front ones). Here I go through how to remove them, and identify how to fix or replace with completely new part. Part No's: Right: 6R0819703. Left: 6R0819704. NB There are various letters that come after each part number depending on colour so please check with your local VW dealer for exact part number you require.
