Our first summer cookout of the year — and the start of a big backyard transformation. We're tearing out the old fire pit, reusing the material, laying down 3/4" plywood, and building toward a brand-new outdoor kitchen for the family. All while grilling up grass-fed ribeyes steaks, BBQ ribs, baked potatoes, rice, salad, and grilled asparagus. In this one: 🔨 Turning an old fire pit into a usable backyard cookout space 🪵 Why we're covering the deck in 3/4" plywood (and keeping the mosquitoes out) 🥩 Why grass-fed AND grass-finished beef matters for flavor and health 🧂 The reason I DON'T season my steak until after it's cooked (juicier every time) 🥔 The simple trick to a perfect baked potato This is cinematic cooking with soul — real ingredients, real technique, real family. And now, a real backyard glow-up. Got a question or want me to cook something specific? Drop it in the comments — I'd be glad to help. 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Like & subscribe to follow the backyard build.
