Cod Fishing out Of Season, Newbiggin By The Sea April 2026

Back out on the coast at Newbiggin-by-the-Sea for another session! 🎣 This time I headed out targeting whatever was about, even though it’s currently out of season for cod. Conditions looked promising, with a bit of movement in the water and a decent breeze rolling in off the North Sea. In this session I talk through my setup, bait choices, and approach for fishing this mark when the usual target species aren’t in season. It’s all about adapting, staying patient, and making the most of the time on the shore. You never know what might turn up! ⚠️ Things got a bit sketchy during this one — I nearly got cut off as the tide pushed in quickly behind me. A good reminder of how fast conditions can change and why it’s so important to keep an eye on your surroundings when fishing coastal marks.
