Alfie's first walk - on a short lead

Since he dislocated his hip. Not sure how he did it, but he was in a very sorry state when he came home.We took him to the local vets in Tain, but needed the expertise of East Neuk vets in Fyfe, again.( An eight hour round trip in the car.) Fortunately he was insured this time, which took some of the pressure off. He spent a week at East Neuk, and when he came home had to spend eight weeks in a cage stop him dislodging the "toggle" that was fitted to secure his hip in place. They tried placing it back but it kept "popping out". We still had the cages from his last mishap. A large dog crate as his lounge/bedroom/diner and a medium cage with the end door taken off and placed against the centre door of the large cage, forming a T-shape. The smaller cage being for his litter tray.It worked very well , though the vet said he was not to be excited, and not to receive visitors, even Wilfred wasn't allowed in the upstairs conservatory that leads off our bedroom. We fed him biscuits, wet food and water, sorted his bedding and changed his litter at 10am, at five we gave him some Greek yoghurt and changed his litter tray again. Then more wet food, and change of litter at 10pm. We snuck a little cuddle at these times. My heart was breaking. He was an extremely good patient - unlike Robbie, who is just home after also having a hip operation. Alfie was the perfect patient. To be cont.
