How to play FLOOD by Jars of Clay (using standard & non-standard tunings)

This is a full acoustic tutorial on the song FLOOD by the Christian alternative-rock band Jars of Clay, a song that was a huge hit for the band in the mid 1990's. When I first learned the song, I figured it out in standard tuning and never realized it may have been originally played differently by the band. I only realized this when I was putting together a cover of FLOOD recently and I found some acoustic lessons online that all dealt with an odd tuning. So after trying it this new way I realized that it felt like the correct way to play the song. But I used both methods of playing this song on the cover that I did to give it a little more depth and variety of sound. The cover is also done as a full band, with vocals, bass, drums, the 2 acoustic parts laid out here, and I included the middle orchestral breakdown done for the original using a string quartet. You can see the cover here:    • Flood - Jars Of Clay cover   So this tutorial covers both ways to play the acoustic parts to FLOOD. The first part covered is using standard tuning, and the second part is using the odd (EABEBE) tuning, and BOTH methods use a capo at the third fret! Both ways sound pretty true to the original. The odd tuning is much easier to play, and thus why I think the band used it. The only disadvantage to the standard tuning method, is it can be difficult to play, as there is some heavy string muting required, as well as the need to use your thumb on the root notes. You can skip right to the beginning of the lesson and PART ONE by fast forwarding to 1:30, and that is the standard tuning lesson. PART TWO starts at 13:16 and this lesson utilizes the EABEBE tuning (strumming methods are discussed in PT1 in detail...) Thanks and I hope this tutorial helps you nail the song down either way you want to play it!
