We'll look at eight entities within the institutional public sector that can be useful if you're studying law at university, pursuing a higher degree in administration and finance, or perhaps preparing for competitive public service exams. You'll finally be able to distinguish between each type of entity by identifying them with examples of companies and organizations you encounter in your daily life. Video Update: Law 11/2020, the General State Budget Law, amends Law 40/2015, the Law on the Legal Regime of the Public Sector, and reinstates State Agencies as public bodies forming part of the state institutional public sector. State Agencies are public law entities with public legal personality, their own assets, and autonomy in their management, empowered to exercise administrative powers. Currently, they are not created by law but rather by the Government "for the implementation of programs corresponding to the public policies developed by the General State Administration within the scope of its powers." Examples of State Agencies include: • State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) • Spanish Agency for Medicines and Health Products (AEMPS) • Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID) • State Anti-Doping Agency (AEPSAD) • State Official Gazette Agency (AEBOE) • Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) • State Aviation Safety Agency (AESA) • State Research Agency (AEI) • State Railway Safety Agency (AESF)
