The High Line is a park that is 1.45 miles (2.33 km) and runs through several neighborhoods – Greenwich Village, the Meatpacking District, Chelsea, and Midtown Manhattan. The park is built on an elevated commercial rail line constructed in 1934. By 1980, the railroad was no longer operating and the tracks were abandoned. In 2006, a non-profit organization repurposed the tracks into a public greenspace and High Line was born. Spending time in this unique park with amazing views is one of the most popular activities in NYC.
