WORLD PREMIERE - Toccata for D (Toccata für D): Stefan Hippe - BundesAkkordeonOrchester (BuAkkO)

The BundesAkkordeonOrchester (Federal Accordion Orchestra; BuAkkO) is Germany's selection orchestra and is sponsored by the Deutscher Harmonika-Verband. Since its founding in 2010, the German Accordion Orchestra (BuAkkO) has been one of the leading performers of new original music. The approximately 30 musicians come from all over Germany and rehearse a concert program over three days. This concert marks the end of the 2025 season under the direction of Federal Conductor Silke D'Inka. Their concert at the 14th World Music Festival premiered three new compositions: The Kingdoms by Ian Watson Toccata for D (Toccata für D) by Stefan Hippe - Fritz Dobler in Memoriam Thoughts of Gratitude by Silke D'Inka - Dedicated to Fritz Dobler The orchestra concluded with a tribute performance of Werziade IV by Fritz Dobler and the Firebird Suite (Igor Stravinsky). In 1954, Fritz Dobler won the Coupe Mondiale international solo competition in Stuttgart and became a prominent soloist across Europe, later gaining fame for conducting the highly respected Accordion Orchestra of the Hohner Conservatory Trossingen during the peak of accordion orchestras in Germany. He composed and arranged extensively for accordion orchestra over many years and served as a longtime executive member of the Deutscher Harmonika-Verband e.V. (DHV), eventually conducting the Das Bundesakkordeonorchester composed of leading accordion teachers. In recognition of his lifelong contributions to accordion music, Dobler has been awarded the Confédération Internationale des Accordéonistes CIA merit award, the Staufer Medal by German Minister Peter Friedrich and the Federal Cross of Merit of Germany. The 14th World Music Festival, (May 29th to June 1st 2025) was organised by the Deutscher Harmonika-Verband (German Harmonica & Accordion Association, DHV) and was combined with Tag der Harmonika (Day of the Accordion), organised by the Harmonikaverband Österreichs (Austrian Harmonica Association, HVÖ) for the first time, incorporating both events providing an expanded platform for accordion competition and performance in solo, duo, and ensemble formats.
