Saturday, August 30, 2025 Excursion The "TRE PER TRE THOUSAND": a circular route we had been meaning to do for a few years, straddling the Maira and Varaita Valleys. This time we attempted the challenge, with little hope of succeeding. Starting from Colle della Bicocca (2,286 m), in the municipality of Casteldelfino (CN), we first tackled the climb towards Pelvo d'Elva (3,064 m): a route that immediately climbs steeply and culminates with a beautiful vertical wall equipped with chains. Having caught our breath, we headed toward our second destination: descending to Lake Camoscere, on whose shores the Bonfante Bivouac (2,625 m) stands, we resumed the winding climb toward Rocca la Marchisa (3,072 m), a mountain with a forked summit, with a northwest and southeast peak. Regaining our energy (definitely grounded!) with a filling lunch and some rest, we decided to complete the job by descending again almost to the Bonfante Bivouac to intercept the ascent path toward Monte Chersogno (3,026 m). Although the weather had been on our side up to this point, giving us open views and blue skies, unfortunately we faced the final stretch of the climb (very steep, winding, and on slippery terrain) toward the summit cross of Monte Chersogno shrouded in clouds. Once we reach the summit, the sky opens up, offering us some fantastic views!
