I measured my head just above my ears and went for an XL. Obviously, it is better to first try on a new helmet before you buy, but I live in a small town so that's not an option. I got lucky, because this O'Neal Sierra fits my head perfectly and is very comfortable. I will report back after a few months of riding with it.
