Desker Road. LITTLE BANGLADESH. WHERE GOT RED LIGHT? Still Retain Old Charm. Desker Road runs for two blocks, roughly east - west between Jalan Besar and Serangoon Road. Most people know this general area as Little India, but Desker Road has developed its own personality and is nicknamed Little Bangladesh (because businesses catering to the Bangladeshi community congregate here). Once notoriously known as a “red-light area”, Desker Road still retains its old-world charm with its rows of conserved terrace shophouses lining some parts of the road. In addition, it is the site where 88 flats under the public housing programme were built by the Housing and Development Board (HDB) in 1982. Hope you enjoy this video until the next one.
