Lochranza, Isle of Arran, Scotland | Wildlife, Scenery, Geology and ...Fairies! An epic short walk!!

Starting and finishing at the Arran Distillery, Lochranza, this short walk of around 4 miles return, is scenic and very interesting as it pays visit to a geological site identified by the 18th century Scottish geologist James Hutton, where the junction between two types of rock formations can be seen. For Hutton, such an unconformity provided evidence for his Plutonist theories of unconformitarianism and the age of the earth. Beyond this, a pretty little white washed cottage is reached which is said to be a portal to the land of the fairies!
