Vibrato Scanner Repair

This vibrato scanner had already been serviced in the past by someone else, meaning the inside surface of the scanner was fairly clean and already clear-coated to prevent dendrite growth. However, all of the oiling threads were missing/broken. The vibrato scanner has two threads, one on each of its two drive clutch bearings. The run motor also was missing its two oiling threads. When I brought this issue up to the client, he asked me to fix it for him, and so I replaced all 4 threads. However, I made a mistake when I routed one of the threads through the scanner, and it broke. Therefore, I had to repeat the process. That is where this video starts, and that is why in the beginning of the video, you see all the threads intact in the tub; those are new threads I had previously installed, but one of them broke inside the vibrato scanner. So I made a 2x time lapse video showing the process of installing new threads. I prefer NOT to drill out the bearings on the vibrato scanner, but I usually fish the thread through with a thin wire like that from a stripped bread tie. However, I had an extremely difficult time doing that today, and decided to drill the rivets and re-rivet the bearing back into place with 2.4mm rivets when finished. The process of installing a thread is the same on both of the bearings of the vibrato scanner. For the run motor, the flywheel bearing thread is very easy to tie. However the scanner drive gear bearing thread is very difficult to get in place. I rely on flat-head toothpicks to push the slipknot into place around the bearing. I did not capture this on video, but it got done prior to recording the video. The rotor pin is extremely fragile and should be protected from anything bumping into it. The video does not show the prep work needed to begin this job, which includes desoldering the wires going to the scanner and vibrato switch, as well as the blue/red wires going to the vibrato line box, and desoldering the run motor. I unbolt the AC line box from the generator, so that it is not in the way of removing and reinstalling the run motor/scanner assembly.
