Following another weekend of gun violence around Chicago, city and faith leaders gathered outside City Hall on Monday morning to propose the creation of a new city department focused on fighting gun violence. They say the proposed Department of Gun Violence Reduction will better focus on the crisis of gun violence in Chicago and work more efficiently across city agencies, adding that mayoral turnover and past politics have gotten in the way of a consistent and concentrated approach.
