You’ve started doing extra tasks. You’ve up-levelled your skills and become more proficient at your job. You’re feeling underpaid and you followed the steps in the previous video to negotiate a pay rise but it was declined with no vision for the future. If you have weighed all your options in your current job and have become frustrated hitting a brick wall then it’s time for plan B. Did you know : “People who change jobs earn more in their career than those who don’t. I’ve seen this to be true for me, upleveling my skill set , asking for pay rise, moving jobs and now running my own business. Being mobile has kept my salary on an upward trajectory and it continues to grow. Go back to the drawing board and Start with dream life visioning. If your life was perfect and you had the dream job what would it be? What are your non negotiable? What’s important to you in an amazing job. How will you feel on a daily basis? How much are you earning? You could even make a mini vision board for your dream role. Take a step back and be willing to look at the bigger picture. Otherwise you get caught in a cycle of job hopping from one unfulfilling underpaying job to the next. Look for a role 2-3 levels above you. Make yourself stretch. Imagine the person you will become by working in a role like that and earning that amount of money. Let your network know you’re looking. Start building a portfolio of connections. Attend local events where your potential workmates are. Speak openly about what you’re looking for. 🌟As a golden rule for every job you work, establish meaning long term connections with people. They will come in handy one day. Whatever you do , don’t make a lateral move. Do your due diligence to ensure you’re moving upwards. Don’t make the mistake of accepting a smaller position, you will resent it later. Always ask for more than what you are aiming for . Never go to an interview unprepared to talk about money. This is a mistake many women make. They don’t ask what the salary is. Have a figure in mind, then add 10 - 20k to it because after this your salary will probably increase by a capped percentage.
