GASCO Installation Story
FTE was working on this very project since the infancy stage along with the project owner. The project owner, being doubtful on whether the bullets which such huge dimensions (L63m*W10m*H11.7m weighing 950MT) could be transported to the heart of capital city, FTE performed several route studies and liaised with the local authorities to check the possibilities. After our final technical presentation, we were able to take the owner into confidence and based on this was the awarded contract to our client. Our scope involved a factory to foundation solution which included preparation of all necessary permits, require route modifications and coordination with the local authorities for the transport. This is a record breaking transport project in terms of the equipment of this height being moved this distance. We used our KAMAG K25 Power Booster units for the transport. The transport spanned over 450kms from the fabrication facility in Dammam to the project site in the capital city of Riyadh. The route was carefully surveyed, proposed, and accepted by the local authorities such as MOT (Ministry of transport), SEC (Saudi Electricity company), Traffic and Highway Police, Civil works department, SAR (Saudi Arabian Railways). Our engineering team was at its best finding the possible transport solution making custom made solutions such as elevated frames for the Power pack units, extendable towing bars and offering site modification solutions for the space constraints. Each step of the transport was closely coordinated between 12 people including drivers, trailer operators and supervisor. The transport challenges included driving with temperatures reaching 58 degrees, traversing slopes of 7%, deenergizing and lifting of low-voltage and high-voltage lines. Removal of several street furniture and driving against traffic flow over 25 kms in the capital city and railway crossings.
