I Thought This Snake Breeding Project Was Over

A devastating snake-breeding accident made me believe this Boiga tanahjampeana project was finished. One female ate her prospective mate—but a recent discovery has given the project an unexpected second chance. Available animals: https://www.dmexotics.com/available/ After the cannibalism incident, I believed my three remaining Boiga tanahjampeana were all females. Without a male, I planned to sell the group and move on. Before making that decision final, I examined them again—and discovered that I actually have one male and two females. The breeding project I thought was over may still have a future. In this video, I explain what happened, show the female after the incident, introduce the surviving animals and discuss how this discovery changed my plans. Boiga tanahjampeana—often called the Tanah Jampea cat snake or Tanahjampea cat snake—is a fascinating and rarely seen Indonesian snake species. We also introduce our newest captive-born Antaresia papuensis babies. Commonly known as Papuan spotted pythons, these small pythons were produced here at DM Exotics. I’ll show several of the babies, discuss their development and explain when they may be ready for new homes. Finally, we check on our false water cobras, Hydrodynastes gigas. The first babies are beginning to shed, and another clutch is approaching its expected hatching window. If the timing works out, next week’s video should feature freshly shed false water cobra babies and another clutch emerging from the eggs.
