Voto nulo em 1970: grande vitória da luta armada, diz guerrilheiro da ALN

"From the standpoint of interfering in institutional politics, the 1970 null vote campaign was our great victory." Carlos Eugênio Paz, codenamed Clemente, a former military commander of the ALN (National Liberation Action), an armed resistance group against the military dictatorship (1964-1985), recalls the Brazilian electoral episode. "Everywhere we had activists, we sent out pamphlets," he adds. In an exclusive interview—the second part of which will be published this Thursday (28/05)—the former guerrilla fighter recounted details of his clandestine days. As a military commander of the ALN, Carlos Eugênio Paz carried out several actions of resistance to the military regime and was one of the participants in the most notorious operation: the execution of businessman Henning Albert Boilesen in April 1971. He was even the group's "alpha" and responsible for the shot that confirmed the death of the president of Ultragaz. ____ Follow us on social media: Facebook:   / operamundi.br   Twitter:   / operamundi   (@operamundi) Instagram:   / operamundi.br
