All The Ways To Be A One-Person Band

Having too few musicians and trying to make do somehow has been a recurring situation throughout my music career. As a multi-instrumentalist and audio nerd, I've collected a handful of absurd but gig-tested methods to try and sound like more people than you are. These are all of the ones I can think of, named after bands or songs that best exemplify the technique. I hope something here helps you next time a drummer no-shows or your bass player calls out sick at the last minute. Update 2024 - the Drop has broken on me, and nobody can fix it.
