Libera me | Emotional Power from Fauré's Requiem

Gabriel Fauré's Requiem, composed between 1887 and 1893, stands as one of the most significant and beloved choral works in the classical music repertoire. Unlike many traditional requiems that often evoke a sense of fear surrounding death, Fauré's composition is characterized by its serene and comforting qualities. This distinctive approach reflects the composer’s personal beliefs about death and the afterlife. The Requiem is structured into seven movements, each contributing to the overall theme of peace and rest. Notable segments include the "Introit et Kyrie," "Offertoire," and the widely recognized "Pie Jesu," which highlights the work's emotional depth. Overall, Fauré's Requiem transcends the typical expectations of a requiem mass, offering a reflection on tranquility and the promise of eternal rest. This composition continues to resonate with audiences, solidifying its place in both sacred and concert music traditions. Fauré's Requiem remains an essential work for choral music lovers, noted for its beauty and emotional power. With lines like "Libera me," it captures the profound human experience of grief while also offering solace and the comfort of remembrance, making it a timeless piece that speaks to the human experience of loss and the hope found in the promise of eternal peace. solo bariton: Martin Kozjek Symphony Orchestra of the Conservatory of Music and Ballet Ljubljana conductor: Slaven Kulenović Violas: Manca Kosmač Brina Podgajski Kampuš Tilen Udovič Ema Poljanec Miha Zupan Tara Oblak Cellos: Vida Furlan Gabrijel Rakar Leonard Razboršek Manca Sečnik Double Basses: Jaša Krevh Jon Poljanec Solo Violin: Gaja Žnidaršič Harp: Adrian Ignjatović Trumpets: Janez Jesenovec Martin Tavčar Horns: Evelina Kovačič Jakob Skerbiš (played only "Libera me") Trombones: Črt Pačnik Amelie Ulčnik Kulovec Lenart Maček Timpani:Tine Lestan Organs:Anja Kovač Conservatory of Music and Ballet Ljubljana Chamber Choir (KGBL Chamber Choir Ljubljana) https://www.choirkgbl.eu/ chorus master: Ambrož Čopi SOPRAN Nika Zarja Čopi Federica Lo Pinto Barbara Potočnik Maša Prah Sara Rozman Petra Kodba Lucija Kovač ALT Amadeja Dvoršak Liza Knez Varja Kovačič Kraigher Eva Majcen Klavdija Miklič Sara Ognjanovič Lara Rozman Maruša Škrubej Novak Brina Vukovič TENOR Gorazd Ambrožič Andraž Babšek Žiga Čopi Roko Kolmanič Jakob Korošec Žiga Mekiš Recek Jakov Reić BAS Jernej Frelih Blaž Kobal Rok Kotar Domen Kunavar Blaž Pirnat Lenart Ulaga Gašper Zlobko Jakob Žnidaršič Conservatorium Ljubljana Director: Betka Bizjak Kotnik Slaven Kulenović is a prominent young conductor in Slovenia.
