It’s a traditional iTaukei (indigenous Fijian) village with a population of roughly around 2,500 people. 📍Location Country: Fiji Island: Viti Levu Region: Coral Coast (southern side of Viti Levu) Province: Nadroga-Navosa Province Features: The village lies close to the Queens Highway that runs along the Coral Coast, near other small villages such as Navutulevu and Naboutini. 🏘️ Village Life & Community Namatakula is a Fijian village community with a strong cultural identity and traditional way of life. Like many coastal villages, the community has faced challenges such as coastal erosion and flooding, leading to local projects like the construction of nature-based seawalls to protect homes, infrastructure, and the village shoreline. 🏉 Rugby Heritage Namatakula is well-known in the Pacific region for producing international rugby stars in both rugby league and rugby union, including Lote Tuqiri, Noa Nadruku, Tevita Kuridrani, Nemani Nadolo, and others. 🌊 Environmental Context Being on the Coral Coast, the village is surrounded by fringing reefs and beaches, with fishing and subsistence activities tied to the marine environment.
