HISTORIC CORE
At its core, LA is a historic place. So today, we go to its Historic Core neighborhood in downtown LA. What began as the city's central business district in the early 1900s, it also became home to the city's theater district. There are 12 in about an 8 block stretch, built around the 1910s-30s, and on this ride we see almost all of them! The facades are extraordinary, with intricate designs that are still intact today, even if the buildings are not retail stores and office buildings. The Historic Core neighborhood is also home to Grand Central Market, a huge marketplace with some pretty incredible vendors, right across from the Bradbury building, known for its elaborate Victorian interior. The district also has a hotel that was featured in a 2021 Netflix documentary, though not for the best reasons. But hey, the place is historic!
