This time we introduce the Faculty of Science at Tohoku University. How do we overcome the barriers of unknown territory? We explore the learning that produces breakthroughs through the creation of knowledge. First, we speak with Professor Masaomi Tanaka of the Astronomy Course in the Department of Space and Earth Physics in the Faculty of Science at Tohoku University and the Department of Astronomy in the Graduate School of Science at Tohoku University. We also spoke with students about the origins of many of the elements around us, as well as the appeal and rewards of research. Furthermore, Tohoku University is conducting research using information obtained from KamLAND in Gifu Prefecture. This time, we visited KamLAND to speak with them. Finally, we spoke with Professor Masahiro Terada, Dean of the Faculty of Science and Dean of the Graduate School of Science at Tohoku University.
