Air Ambulance Called to Horse Riding Incident on Formby Beach

Air Ambulance Called to Horse Riding Incident on Formby Beach. Emergency services were called to Formby Beach near Lifeboat Road at around 4pm on Friday 22nd August after a woman fell from her horse while riding along the sands. The rider suffered a suspected back injury. Although her condition is not thought to be life-threatening, ambulance crews on the scene felt it was too risky to move her safely across the beach by road. To ensure she received the right care as quickly as possible, the decision was made to call in the air ambulance from Blackpool. The helicopter, a Eurocopter EC135 – now renamed the Airbus H135 – a twin-engine light utility aircraft widely used for emergency medical services, landed in the Lifeboat Road car park. Crews then prepared to assist on the beach, where the woman was carefully placed on a stretcher and transferred into the helicopter. The air ambulance then flew her directly to Aintree University Hospital in Fazakerley, landing at 5:05pm. Aintree is a major trauma centre for the region, ensuring she received specialist treatment as quickly as possible. The incident drew the attention of beachgoers and local residents, who praised the swift response of emergency services in dealing with the situation. The vital work of the North West Air Ambulance Service plays a crucial role in linking our community to specialist hospital care, often under urgent circumstances. Their service is funded by charitable donations, and their rapid response in emergencies like this highlights just how important their work is. #Formby #FormbyBeach #AirAmbulance #NorthWestAirAmbulance #AintreeHospital #EmergencyServices #HelicopterRescue #HorseRidingAccident #UKRescue #SearchAndRescue #AmbulanceService #CommunityNews #LocalNewsUK #EC135 #AirbusH135 #RNLI #CoastRescue #NorthWestUK #BreakingNewsUK #FormbyBubble
