How to replace a pinion and bendix in a 1996 Evinrude 115

In this video I show you how to disassemble, repair, and reassemble a 1996 evinrude 115 pinion gear and bendix. After my bendix froze up and burned up in my motor, the motor failed to turn over and the starter just spun. After researching I found that the bendix is the issue and after taking it apart I I figured out exactly what I needed to repair it. The bendix failing to properly grab to engage the flywheel is a common problem in this motor but the repair is super simple minus the replacement of the brass bushing (which is optional for the repair as long as its in good working order). Total time to replace the pinion and bendix is about 40 minutes but if you add in removal of the brass bushing and replacement, the time can go up drastically. I did this entire job in under an hour, even with the removal of the brass bushing. I am not a certified mechanic and my ways may not always be the preferred method of experts but its my motor and my choice and in the end it worked great. Good luck on your repair, and thanks for watching this video.
