The Levada do Castelejo is one of the most impressive levada hikes in northeastern Madeira. 🇵🇹🌿 On this approximately 11 km round trip, you can expect lush vegetation, narrow paths, a subtropical climate, and a true jungle feel. At least, that's how it was when we were there in December 2025. 🌿 This impressive levada hike starts near Porto da Cruz and leads from agricultural areas deeper and deeper into a secluded valley. Along the way, you'll experience a variety of views, verdant gorges, and exciting sections along the cliff face. 👉 A head for heights is required on this levada.
