The Class 777 units are the newest trains on the Merseyrail network, built by Stadler to replace the older Class 507 and 508 units, bringing a modern feel to local services across Merseyside. The journey begins at Liverpool Lime Street Low Level, where we head down to the underground platforms via the new ticket barriers and walkways. After checking the display boards and waiting on the platform, the Class 777 arrives to form the New Brighton service. Departing Liverpool Lime Street at 11:19, the train quickly continues through the underground loop, calling at Liverpool Central and Liverpool James Street. These central stations are some of the busiest on the Merseyrail network, providing key access across Liverpool city centre. After leaving Liverpool, the train passes under the River Mersey through the Wirral Loop tunnels, emerging at Hamilton Square in Birkenhead. From here, the service continues through Conway Park, Birkenhead Park and Birkenhead North, serving key residential areas. The journey continues north through Wallasey Village and Wallasey Grove Road before heading towards the coast. As the train approaches New Brighton, views of the promenade and waterfront come into view, adding a nice coastal finish to the journey.
