Heather Pollington in Kildare: From Hollywood to The Symbolic World and Pop Culture to Church Art

In this talk from the More Christ Gathering in Kildare, artist Heather Pollington shares the remarkable story of her own spiritual journey, from a successful career designing for some of Hollywood's biggest films to discovering the beauty of the Christian tradition through iconography. Heather reflects on how working on productions such as Harry Potter, James Bond, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Mary Poppins eventually led her to rediscover the medieval Christian imagination, drawing her back to the Church and into a vocation of creating sacred art. Today, she works with Jonathan Pageau and The Symbolic World, illustrating books, painting icons, and helping recover a richer vision of beauty, symbolism, and worship. Together, we explore the relationship between art and faith, the calling of the Christian artist, the place of icons in the life of the Church, and Heather's hope of one day helping establish a chapel where beauty can once again point people towards God.
